Hi All. My four-monq-old son cries out in his sleep. Sometimes, he'll suddenly scream out, and then fall back to sleep after the crying and screaming episodes. Has anyone ever experienced qis? Can babies have nightmares? If so, does anyone know why or what to do? Thanks.
I think these are night terrors he may be experiencing. I'll have to do more research and get back to you with any possible solutions.
Oh, I think it's perfectly normal, our son has done that since he was born, and he's now 14 months old. Just give him his pacifier, stroke his head a bit and wait for him to calm down. If he wakes up screaming, hold him and walk around for a bit until he calms down or feed him. Our son used to wake up every 2 hours, sometimes just a bit of screaming and then straight to sleep, but sometimes it woke him up, he only does it twice or 3 times now. I wouldn't worry about it, just make him feel loved and cared for, give him pacifier and he should be fine, and try to get some sleep too, of course *grin*
cheers

I'm with B on this one. I don't have children of my own, but coming from an Irish extended family, i've babysat scores of them. Picking them up for a cuddle is definitely in order. It doesn't work with all babies, but I know a few of mine responded well to soft singing, or just talking.
Hope this helps.

From what I've read "Night Terrors" don't normally appear until about 3 years of age, but can occur earlier, and "Night Terrors" are present only about 5% of the time. A search on:
Parenting.Com
Gives a lot of good information on "Night Terrors". Including, how to tell the difference between night mares and night terrors. You can also search there for articles that talk about the "surprising kids sleep sabitors" and other topics that cover baby sleep habits. The following article is one I found that might be of assistance:
How to End Your Baby's Nightwaking
I'm not a parent, but I thought these resources might help. Hope they do. *smile*
Thanks for the advice. i will read the articles, definitely. Too bad I can't use a pacifier. Nathaniel hates them.
Hi there I've noticed Isaiah is starting to do this too without the past month and a half. He slept through the night ever since he was 2 months old. now he's 7 months old and he usually wakes up around 3 in the morning like he is scared. I try to show him that everything is ok. I just hope it ends soon.
Maybe if not a passafyer rocking with him or just even like stated above try stroking his head or cheak will help a little.
